About the Role:

Wolters Kluwer is seeking a motivated and talented Associate AppOps Engineer to join our OneOps – AppOps LR team within Global Technology Solutions (GTS). This is an entry-level engineering role ideal for individuals with foundational knowledge of cloud platforms, application operations, and a keen interest in AI-augmented operations. The rd is based in Pune, India under a hybrid work model.

As an Associate AppOps Engineer, you will support the stability, reliability, availability, and operational excellence of enterprise applications hosted on AWS and Azure cloud platforms.

You will work under the guidance of senior engineers and your manager to learn end-to-end application operations — from monitoring and incident response to release coordination and observability. This role places emphasis on application runtime health, operational workflows, incident management, release readiness, and environment reliability

In alignment with Wolters Kluwer's OneOps transformation and our commitment to AI-driven operational excellence, you will be expected to develop awareness and foundational skills in AI-assisted operations — leveraging tools like AI Copilots, intelligent automation agents, and AI-powered observability to enhance daily workflows and reduce operational toil.

This is a next-generation AppOps Engineering role focused on cloud-native operations, automation-first execution, and AI-aware operational practices.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for monitoring application health, availability, and performance across AWS and Azure environments under the guidance of senior team members. This includes proactively identifying anomalies, escalating issues following established runbooks and standard operating procedures, and supporting multi-environment lifecycle management across Non prod, and Production environments.

You will serve as a first-response GTS Appops interface for production incidents across assigned applications. This involves triaging, investigating, and resolving production incidents, participating in root cause analysis, and contributing to long-term preventive fixes. You will be expected to document incident timelines, actions, and learnings in ServiceNow and support Post-Incident Reviews.

In the area of release and deployment operations, you will coordinate and execute application deployments across EU and NA production environments, ensure release readiness, validate post-deployment health, and collaborate with engineering teams for smooth rollouts. You will support Change Enablement processes — creating and executing standard, normal, and expedited changes with a focus on maintaining high change success rates.

You will assist in implementing and maintaining monitoring dashboards, alerts, and log pipelines using tools such as Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus, and ELK/OpenSearch. You will support operational observability by learning to interpret metrics, logs, and traces for rapid diagnosis, and contribute to runbook documentation and alert tuning.

You will develop and maintain basic automation scripts using Bash, Python, or PowerShell to streamline repetitive operational tasks. You will contribute to runbook-driven workflows, help identify opportunities to reduce manual toil, and support Infrastructure as Code practices using Terraform within the WK IaC framework.

You will adhere to enterprise security standards and support vulnerability remediation, patch management, and certificate and DNS management. You will follow access control best practices and least-privilege principles and support Operational Readiness Review checkpoints including patching, DR readiness, and compliance evidence gathering.

You will leverage AI-assisted tools such as Microsoft Copilot and GitHub Copilot to accelerate troubleshooting, documentation, and script development. You will develop a foundational understanding of AI agents and intelligent automation as used in AppOps workflows, participate in AI-enablement initiatives such as Code Games and internal AI hackathons, and understand and apply concepts of Responsible AI including data privacy, bias awareness, and ethical use of AI in operations.

You will work closely with Engineering, CloudOps, Security, Compliance, and DBA teams to ensure smooth application operations. Clear written and verbal communication across geographies is essential. You will participate in operational reviews, team stand-ups, and PI planning sessions, and serve as a reliable GTS Appops interface for various -based product stakeholders.

You will also participate in an on-call rotation and scheduled maintenance windows, support DR/BCP readiness exercises and failover testing as directed, and contribute to team knowledge sharing, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Awareness of Infrastructure as Code using Terraform is a plus.

Awareness of AI-assisted tools such as Microsoft Copilot and GitHub Copilot for debugging, documentation, and automation is expected. Foundational understanding of AI agents, intelligent automation concepts, and Responsible AI principles including data privacy and ethical AI usage is desirable.
