Cloud Security Engineering at Cisco drives the technology that is transforming the way customers secure their networks and, more importantly, their users.

We are seeking an Cloud DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic and innovative technology team. This role is ideal for a fresh graduate who has a strong foundation in computer science, software engineering, cloud technologies, and automation, along with a strong desire to learn and grow in the DevOps domain.

As a member of the SSE Control Plane organization, you will work with engineers responsible for the design, development, deployment, and operation of key microservices focused on cloud network experience, traffic optimization, and insights for products such as Cisco Umbrella and Cisco Secure Access.

This role provides an opportunity to learn modern cloud infrastructure, CI/CD practices, container technologies, observability, automation, and production operations while working with experienced engineers in a collaborative environment.

Your Impact

Assist development and operations teams in building, automating, and improving software delivery processes.

Learn and contribute to CI/CD pipelines that support reliable deployment from development to production.

Help monitor application and infrastructure health using observability and monitoring tools.

Participate in troubleshooting issues across applications, platforms, and cloud environments.

Work with engineering teams to improve deployment, testing, automation, and operational workflows.

Learn best practices for cloud security, reliability, scalability, and incident response.

Contribute to scripts, tools, and automation that improve engineering productivity.

Collaborate with developers, DevOps engineers, and system administrators to support production services.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field.

Fresh graduate or early-career candidate with strong interest in Cloud DevOps, SRE, infrastructure, or automation.

Foundational understanding of software development and operating system concepts.

Basic programming or scripting knowledge in one or more languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript, Go, Bash, or Shell scripting.

Familiarity with Unix/Linux systems and basic command-line usage.

Basic understanding of cloud computing concepts such as compute, storage, networking, and managed services.

Exposure to one or more cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure through coursework, projects, internships, or self-learning.

Basic knowledge of DevOps concepts such as CI/CD, automation, build pipelines, deployment, and infrastructure as code.

Awareness of container technologies such as Docker; familiarity with Kubernetes is a plus.

Good analytical and problem-solving skills.

Strong communication skills and willingness to work in a team-oriented environment.

Eagerness to learn, experiment, and adapt in a fast-paced technology environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Academic projects, internship experience, or personal projects related to cloud, DevOps, automation, or backend systems.

Exposure to CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or similar tools.

Who You’ll Work With

The members of the Cloud Security Control Plane Engineering team build and operate core control plane services for the Cisco Umbrella and Cisco Secure Access platforms.

You will work with a team that supports learning, experimentation, and engineering excellence. You will collaborate closely with Cloud Security Engineering teams and other engineering groups across Cisco.

You will:

Work with developers, DevOps engineers, systems engineers, and cloud infrastructure teams.

Learn from senior engineers through hands-on tasks, reviews, and technical guidance.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand infrastructure, deployment, monitoring, and automation needs.

Contribute to building reliable, scalable, and secure cloud services.
